About us

Marsh Willow began when basketmaker, Julie Gurr and her partner James Strangeways began growing willow on Romney Marsh in East Sussex in 2017. We are developing a range of willow products including artists charcoal, plant supports, baskets, hurdles, with more to come. We enjoy making films of the willow growing process and our production methods.

  

Julie has been making willow baskets for over 20 years. She is using more and more of the willow that is grown at Marsh Willow as the harvest increases each year. Julie is the main willowweaver and basketmaker with Marsh Willow. You can see more of her work on her website www.willowweaver.com

James is in charge of charcoal production and is also learning basketmaking. He is Julie's main apprentice.
